GOglbt meeting - September 9:

In September, we will be returning to the Nebraska Humane Society (8929 Fort Street in Omaha).   Last time we had a great turnout and were given a great tour of the facility.   Due to Labor Day and conflicting schedules, this meeting will be at a different date at time:  We are meeting on the SECOND THURSDAY, September 9th at 6:00 PM.   One lucky attendee will receive a gift certificate to the Nebraska Humane Society as well!

Omaha World-Herald changes policies on wedding announcements:

According to Terry Kroeger, "Celebrations announcements regarding legal weddings, engagements for legal weddings or anniversaries of a legal marriage will be welcomed, regardless of the genders of the couple. We will not run announcements regarding commitment ceremonies, partnerships and other non-marriage unions, again regardless of gender."   The facebook group for these efforts started by Jeff Wilke is now called United For Equal Rights In Omaha

GOglbt meeting - October 7:

On October 7th, we will be visiting Camp Coworking at 1111 North 13th Street in Omaha.  Camp Coworking is a collaborative place to work surrounded by inspirational people. A day at the office for us includes relaxing on a comfy couch with a laptop. Good coffee, a muffin from a local bakery, and maybe even a beer. And being motivated and inspired by all of the productivity, fun, and camaraderie surrounding us.

GOglbt meeting - November 4:

On November 4th, we will be visiting the South Omaha Library at 2808 Q Street in Omaha.   Recently renovated and housed on Metro Community College's south campus, this library is a joint venture between the two organizations and a great addition to the community.  Join us with our special guest, Omaha Public Library's executive director, Gary Wasdin.

 Council Bluffs Community Alliance

On Sunday, August 29th, the CBCA will hold its annual picnic in Bayliss park from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  We will pick a spot in the park, so look for the rainbow and Iowa flags for our location.   Please bring your favorite picnic dish to share, as well as chairs or blankets to sit on. We will try to grab picnic tables and cluster them together.  This is a pot luck. We suggest you bring hot dogs, hot dog buns, salads or condiments to share.  Please bring your own water or other drinks (no alcohol allowed in the park). CBCA will bring plates, cups, knives, forks, napkins and a couple of tables.  Please have a friend or two come with you. Families with children are especially welcome. Hope to see all of you there!
