VICTORY! Non-Discrimination Measure Moves Forward |
Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and
allied people spoke out and took a step towards victory! Today, the
Nebraska Board of Mental Health moved forward a non-discrimination
policy that includes both sexual orientation and gender identity and
requires providers to make a referral when unable to provide a
service.
A defeated regulation attempted to create a “narrowly
defined instance” when denying a referral would be acceptable. You
and I know that identities are not narrowly defined and that no one
should be denied services because of who you are. The board heard
your voices.
Citizens for Equal Protection will continue to
speak out as this proposed regulation moves forward.
